1.7 - The last depressing chapter

Kerry would have been sleeping for another few hours if it wasn't for that damn phone ringing on the night table and in her brain. Who on earth calls her at... whatever time it is? Her head feels like it's about to explode... Wait, what happened last night? How did she get here? She tries to recollect her memories and ignores the call but it starts angrily ringing again only seconds later. The caller is persistent so she forces herself to stand up and turn the lights on, which immediately triggers another wave of sharp pain in her head. "Okay, fine, fine, I come! ... uhhh, my head..." She grabs her phone. It's Ramona's name on the display. "Ramona, what the heck does she - oh... oh no...", she slowly realizes. "Hey, uh... hi Ramona. - Oh, could you please lower your voice... Unfortunately it seems like everyone else is already engaged in their conversation and ther...

Kerry is slowly getting accustomed to her new job. While the work itself is not the most exciting, her boss is clearly pleased with her and she loves to hear his praise and encouragement. She enters his office with a stack of papers. "Mr. Henry? Here are the invitations you wanted me to print." "Ah, excellent job!", he says without looking at the papers. "You're really doing a great job. Might have to offer you a permanent place if you keep that up, hm? Here, take these letters, put them in envelopes, adress labels and stamps on it and off they go! And bring me a coffee!" It's lunch break, everyone's favourite time of the work day. Everyone's but Kerry's. She sits at the table with the other women to not give the impression that she's isolating herself but none of her co-workers are real friendship material. They love gossiping and talking others down so they can feel better about their own miserable lives. The Angelista l...
